If you are a fan of wooden products, including decorations, gifts, kitchen and home accessories, or jewellery, and want to support a good cause, AMADEA is a great place to start. The story of AMADEA began in 2002 in Podkrkonoší, when two friends decided to start a company. AMADEA started in a basement, where its founders began experimenting with laser engraving and cutting wood.
What began with small wooden ornaments gradually grew into a business offering around 70,000 wooden products, from decorations and kitchenware to jewellery, lamps and flower planters. The company is particularly known for its wooden nativity scenes and has become the largest manufacturer of wooden nativity scenes in Europe. Today, AMADEA combines modern technology, traditional craftsmanship and social employment. Its products are made in several Czech workshops and sold both in the Czech Republic and internationally. Its motto, “Created for joy,” reflects not only the joy of its customers but also the meaningful work of the people who create the products. Since 2002, AMADEA has been creating opportunities for people with disabilities. From the beginning, its goal has been to support inclusion, encourage self-realization and help people become a full part of society. The company intentionally began designing and creating products that people with disabilities could actively participate in producing. Thanks to this approach, they are not pushed to the margins but instead become a natural part of everyday working life.
Over time, the company naturally evolved into a sheltered workshop and was later recognized as a social enterprise. AMADEA directly employs people with disabilities and health disadvantages in its production, giving them the opportunity to work, develop their skills and contribute to the company’s success. Through their work, employees become involved in everyday life, and for many of them, their job becomes a meaningful part of their lives. AMADEA’s goal is to continue to “create for joy” – to evoke positive emotions in all directions, regardless of how complex today’s world may be.
