The BullyFree Erasmus+ youth exchange took place in the beautiful city of Rezekne, Latvia. Throughout the project, we focused on the various forms of bullying—especially cyberbullying—and explored ways to recognize, understand, and protect ourselves and others from it. Each day brought insightful discussions and powerful activities that encouraged empathy, reflection, and connection.
Some activities were deeply emotional, particularly those that made us step into the shoes of others. A memorable moment for many participants was an activity focused on visual impairment. In pairs, we took turns wearing a blindfold for ten minutes, while our partner guided us around the venue. This exercise created strong emotional responses and helped us reflect on vulnerability, trust, and inclusion.
One day, we visited the city of Rezekne. We explored a local community center and took part in a cultural walk organized by the Latvian team. It was a beautiful experience that allowed us to discover Latvia’s rich traditions, warm hospitality, and sense of community.
Toward the end of the week, we worked in groups to create fictional stories based on real-life bullying situations. The goal was to develop narratives that could later serve as educational tools or offer comfort and guidance to those going through similar struggles.
The entire exchange was not only educational, but also heartwarming. It allowed us to grow as individuals, build international friendships, and understand how important it is to speak up and stand together against bullying. I am truly grateful I had the chance to be part of such a meaningful project.
