Trutnov Grammar School
On Monday, 2 December 2024, a second workshop focused on misinformation and media literacy took place at the Trutnov Gymnasium. The aim of this meeting was to provide students with an introductory overview to orient themselves in the media environment. We presented on how to detect manipulative content and why there is an emphasis on verifying information from various independent sources.
At the beginning of the workshop, participants were introduced to key concepts such as “disinformation”, “fake news” and “propaganda”. The speakers then discussed the indicators by which the credibility of the media can be assessed and discussed the specifics of the Czech media environment. The second part of the programme was devoted to a debate on the importance of context in the reception of information. At the end of the workshop, the principles of critical thinking were presented. The speakers also informed about the possibilities of participation in the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ programmes.
